Rachel Pirie
Rachel is an elementary school teacher in the Glastonbury school system. She is a lifelong dancer who began her training at ASD for the first 18 years of her dance career, which started at age 3.
While a student at ASD, Rachel was a member of the competitive dance team where she won top awards in both group and solo competitions. Rachel was also a member of the Synergy Dance Company, a professional jazz dance company founded at ASD. She has been teaching for Alyson’s School of Dance for 15+ years, and has proven to be a national award-winning choreographer. Her routines have brought home top awards at both the regional and National levels, including awards for her outstanding choreography.
Rachel has also brought her hip hop choreography to the World of Dance competition in Boston where her crew “Mobbin Pretty” placed among professional and semiprofessional dance crews from all over the nation. Rachel directed and choreographed the WNBA CT Sun 3 dance teams: Solar Power, Sun Beams, and Sunsationals for 8 years. She also directed and choreographed for the NLL Black Wolves Howlers professional dance team for several seasons. She has choreographed for award winning college dance teams, and has performed professionally for DFX entertainment as well as appearing with New Kids on the Block in concert at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
Rachel’s eye for detail, passion for dance, and her award-winning choreography make her classes a favorite among dance students of all ages.
