Alyson Portelance-Ayer

Alyson began her dance training at the age of four and has performed extensively. She holds a BS degree from the University of Connecticut in Child and Family Counseling and received her Masters Degree from WesleyanUniversity in Dance and Liberal Arts. She has owned her own studio for twenty-five years and her students have performed throughout New England.

Mackenzie Sagun

Mackenzie Sagun has been teaching with ASD for 6 years and has gone through our extensive teacher training program. Her students under her tutelage have won numerous awards in National and regional dance competition. Mackenzie was a National Award winning competitive dancer herself winning numerous scholarships and accolades as a soloist including a full scholarship to the Hollywood Summer Tour.

Rachel Pirie

Rachel is an Elementary school teacher in the Glastonbury school system.  She is life long dancer who began her training at ASD for the first 18 years of her dance career beginning at age 3 where she was a member of the dance competitive team and won top awards in both group and solo competitions.

Sara Jones

Sara Jones has dedicated the past twenty-three years of her life to dance. Starting at the age of four she trained at Studio 83 school of Dance. From the age of eight until the present she has trained at Alyson’s School of Dance in Uncasville.  In 2001, Sara graduated from the Hartford Conservatory with an Associate’s in Dance Performance.

Shana Pirie

Shana began her dance training at ASD at the age of 3.  She has also trained in gymnastics, acrobatics, and tumbling at Dunne’s Gymnastics.  Shana has won countless awards in regional and national dance competitions.  She has trained extensively with Alyson Ayer and continues to perform with the ASD Company.  Shana graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University with a Bachelors degree in Sociology.

Grace Bisgyer

Grace is a life-long dancer who received her initial training at Alyson’s School of Dance in all dance genres from the age of 3 to 18. She is well versed in tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary, and hip-hop. She was part of ASD’s elite dance troupe earning multiple awards as a soloist and part of a group at various dance competitions. Miss Grace was a member of hip-hop crew Mobbin’ Pretty that successfully competed at World of Dance Boston.

Mackenzie Donovan

Mackenzie began her dance training at Alyson’s School of Dance at 3 years old, she was a member of the dance troupe and a teaching assistant for 4 years before graduating. During this time she trained under various former and current ASD staff to expand her practice. Mackenzie graduated from Central Connecticut State University where she spent two years on their D1 dance team.

Alisa Nipp

Originally from Southern California, Alisa Nipp began dancing at the age of 4. At age 8, Alisa began training at Pacific Ballet Conservatory for the next ten years under Maryann Bayless (PNB), Jane Matty (Dutch National Ballet), and Julie Binowitz (Pennsylvania Ballet).

Amanda Smith

Amanda started dancing at Alyson’s School of Dance at the age of three. She joined the competition team at ASD at a very young age and competed in all forms of dance throughout high school. Amanda went to school at Manchester Community College earning her associate’s degree, and is finishing her last semester at Eastern Connecticut State University where she will earn her bachelor's degree in Sociology.
